Cheryl was certified in 1978 diving the rock quarries and lakes in Maryland and Virginia. She finished travel school that same year and became a retail travel agent. One of her clients was her local dive shop, for whom she coordinated their group and independent dive travel programs. This was the start of her 44-year travel career.
Cheryl’s career took her to many parts of the travel industry including retail travel, wholesale travel, airline tour desk operations, airline flight reservations operations as well as private label US reservations offices. This gave her experience in administration, accounting, management, implementation as well as automation and system design. She became the Owner and President of TRS in 1994.
“I hire for the long term. I am so grateful for the dedication and loyalty the staff shows in taking care of the company’s accounts, travel partners, and consumers. We are all part of our accounts team.”
Carol is the Director of Marketing.
Certified in 1979, she led a boring career in marketing in the banking industry prior to throwing caution to the wind and moving to Bonaire to teach scuba diving in 1998 at the ripe old age of 40.
She later became the Director of Marketing for a favorite Bonaire Resort before turning stateside. She has been with TRS since 2005.
The favorite part of her job? “Finding the right voice for content marketing with a new client. Each is so unique!
Susan is a reservation specialist. She received her open water certification after a snorkeling trip to the Na Pali coastline of Kauai, Hawaii, left her gobsmacked, with the thought, ‘if snorkeling is THIS good, diving must be 100 times better!’ Going through the classes for additional education and training, she proudly notes it is her name as instructor on her two daughters’ certification cards. She lived in the Caribbean for several years, working as an instructor, returned to her home of Houston to work as a dive travel agent and enjoyed travel, exploring markets in far-off destinations, and making lifelong friends in those destinations.
Favorite part of her job? Chatting with clients about shared dive experiences, and ensuring clients get a memorable, fun dive experience with Dive Paradise. May the splendid toadfish be with you!
Lisa was certified in a cold & murky quarry in Canada in 1985. After her first trip to Bonaire, she realized that diving was WAY better in the tropics and immediately began to travel, with her mask and fins, to wherever!!
She became a dive instructor in 1988 while attending the PADI International College in California and has made a life-long career in the dive industry. In 1995, She opened a dive center in California and traveled the world for the next 10 years with customers and friends. In 1996 Lisa began a part-time career as a PADI Instructor Examiner and had the privilege of certifying dive instructors around the globe.
To satisfy her gypsy soul, Lisa set off with her 4 yr-old daughter and family on their 55 ft sailing boat, cruising from California to Panama, thru the Canal, and up to Belize. This epic journey lasted over 5 years and satisfied her quest for adventure! (At least for now!)
She has settled down and loves working from her home she recently built (yes, she’s thinks she is a contractor too).
She loves being a scuba reservation specialist because she connects daily with divers and people that love the ocean as much as she does. It’s a perfect fit.
Crystal is our Accounting Specialist. She handles all the day-to-day accounting duties. She has been with TRS since 2009. She was born and raised in South Florida. She received her Advanced Open Water certification from Betty’s husband back in 2004 in North Miami Beach.
She moved to the West coast of Florida and completed her B.S. in Accounting at Florida Gulf Coast University in 2012.
Crystal recently moved to the beautiful NE Ohio region and is enjoying every bit of life with her two daughters.
The favorite part of her job? “I love my coworkers who have become family. They have watched me grow and taught me along the way. They are a team filled with dedication and experience that makes coming to work enjoyable.”
Shirlyan spent many of her early career years in banking in New York before the travel bug lead her to a career with (then) Pan Am Airlines.
She started working at TRS 14 years ago. Her years in banking equipped her with the attention to detail needed in her job where thoroughness and accuracy are key.
What does she love most about her job? ” Working for a company where I enjoy coming to work, the environment with all my coworkers are the best and having a boss who is genuinely concerned and appreciates each of us!”
